A Littleton Love Story: How One Local Couple Designed Their Dream Custom Engagement Ring

When it comes to major life milestones, the story behind the piece is just as important as the piece itself.

Like many modern love stories, Quinn and Christen first connected on a dating app back in the summer of 2024. Quinn grew up right here in Ken-Caryl, and as the two spent more time together, Christen quickly fell in love with the area, too. Before long, their weekends were filled with bike rides to Breckenridge Brewery, strolls through Chatfield State Park, and planning a future together right here in the foothills.

When the time came to take the next step, they knew they wanted an engagement ring that reflected their unique story. But like many couples, finding “the one” in a standard display case proved harder than expected.

Here is how they went from browsing big-box stores to designing a one-of-a-kind, three-stone radiant cut ring right here at Rummell Jewelry.

Step 1: Style — Overcoming the Big-Box Fatigue

When Quinn involved his fiancé in the ring-shopping process early on, they started where most people do: online and at corporate retail stores.

“Honestly, nothing stood out as something that really felt like me,” she recalled. “When asking around for recommendations, Rummell and Nikki came up more than once! We called Nikki, shared what we were looking for, and she got us scheduled for a consultation right away.”

Going custom can sometimes feel intimidating. You want a ring that looks stunning, but you also need a setting that holds up to everyday life in Colorado.

“There were definitely some nerves!” she admitted. “You want to make sure the ring is designed exactly the way you want, but also that it works for everyday life. But when we walked into Rummell and met Nikki and Drew, we couldn’t have felt more comfortable. They were so kind, knowledgeable, and helpful… We left the meeting literally giving each other a hug!”

During that initial consultation, they zeroed in on the star of the show: an elongated radiant cut center stone.

“I knew I wanted an elongated cut, but also something unique. I wanted more sparkle than an emerald cut and something different than an oval. A radiant cut is incredibly sparkly, exactly the shape I was looking for, and definitely unique.”

Steps 2 & 3: Refine & Visualize — The Power of 3D Tech

Once the concept and stones were selected, our in-house team got to work building the digital CAD (Computer-Aided Design) model. For a client, seeing their ideas translated into exact structural proportions for the first time is magic.

“The CAD design was so cool to see! Not only did it absolutely nail what we wanted, but being able to digitally try it on to see how it looked on my hand was amazing.”

To ensure absolute peace of mind before pouring precious metal, we 3D printed a resin model of the ring for her to hold and try on in person.

“Being able to try on the 3D print was so helpful to visualize the design in real life before it was cast. I didn’t want to make any changes, but having that visual was incredibly reassuring.”

Step 4: Produce — The Unveiling

When our master bench jewelers finished hand-setting and polishing the three-stone setting, it was time for the big reveal. The result was a perfectly balanced, cohesive masterpiece featuring three impeccably matched stones.

“It was incredible and better than I could have imagined,” she shared. “The ring was so balanced, and all three stones matched perfectly in color and clarity… I still can’t believe how they took it from an idea to reality!”

The reaction from family and friends in the community was immediate:

  • In-Laws: Loved the elegant, timeless design.
  • Friends: Couldn’t get over the intense sparkle and unique custom setting.
  • Grandma: Called it a fresh, beautiful take on a classic three-stone ring unlike anything she’d seen before.

The Rummell Difference

When local couples choose custom, they aren’t just buying jewelry — they are partnering with neighborhood craftsmen who care about their story.

“We don’t even give people the chance to worry about the process being complicated,” she says. “If anyone is jewelry shopping or looking for engagement rings, we tell them they must go to Nikki and the team at Rummell. Throughout the entire process, we felt comfortable, confident, and incredibly well-communicated with at each step along the way.”

(And the best part? We are currently in the studio crafting both of their custom wedding bands!)
